Tim slipping on a banana peel

Well I was feeling a bit ambitious this evening and decided to do a better 3/4 pose the character Tim that I created for the 2D animation class I am taking.

The story has time getting up from a lawn chair to get a ball that came into his yard from the neighboring house, where some childern are playing. On the way to pick up the ball Tim slips on a banana peel that he did not see. This is a pose of him falling away from the viewer.

Tripping Tim Animation (Walking)

This is a walk animation created of Tim from the model sheet posted previously.

The walk could be a little smoother maybe a couple of more tweens would have helped. I also wanted to add so squash and stretch to Tim's belly to make it a bit more humorous.

2D Animation Model Sheet "Tripping Tim"

This is the model sheet for the 2D animation class that I am taking. The character was for a story that was given to us and we had to create a character and model sheet. There was nothing about the size of the character. The only thing that were were told is that Tim is 20-30 years old and wears glasses. I created 3 different concepts and this one I think was the best of the 3.

This was the first concept that I had for Tim, he looks a bit too old in this version.

Here was my second concept a bit younger looking than the first concept but needed to push the character more.

3D Model - Avatar AMP Suit

I am still working on this even though the class is over. When I chose this the instructor said that he thought it might be too much detail to model. Turned out that he was right but you know if you don't push yourself you will never get better. So this is a work in progress...

This is a detail view of the hand

View of the arms the sphere in the middle is a place holder for the torso.

This is as far as I got by the time this had to be turned in.

This is a detail view of the upper arm there are 7 individual parts to this view
The AMP Suit is being modeled with the intention of rigging and animating it.
The work on this will continue as time permits. I will post a detail of the leg later.

Final Project (Chess Pieces Concept)

Our final project for the quarter was to create a set of chess pieces based on a series of characters. I chose to do Dragons and other Mythical Creatures.

Past, Present and Future (Week 7)

We were assigned to create a character and have them in the clothing and such for different times in history and such. I chose to do a secretary... art work below...

Symbiosis (Week 6)

The assignment was to create characters that exhibited different forms of symbiosis; Commensalism, Mutualism, and Parasitism. I was assigned the ocean as the basis for my concepts. I choose the Clown Fish/Anemone, Green Sea Turtle/Cleaner Fish and Salmon/Lamprey Eel. Below is the finalized version, followed by finished individual concepts.

Mother Goose (Week 5)

This week we were assigned to create a design based on a Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme of our choice. I think it is obvious which rhyme I chose. The line art as turned in followed by the individual character sketches and the original concept

Assignment Week 5

I was out sick this week but the assignment was to take a celebrity and make them into a vehicle, plant and animal. The instructor sent my my celebrity name, Harrison Ford. My first attempt needed some work to make things more recognizable, however have little time to redo work, I only was able to update the Indy Chimp. Here is the updated version, below that is the original version.

5 year old me

Assignment week 3
I must assume that I did not fully understand what the instructor wanted. I am not the best artist and was attempting to get more life like sketches and was not successful. Once I understood that what was wanted was caricatures then I did a little better.

This was the redo (caricature version)

This was the original (Sucks Hard)

Art for first assignment from Character and Object Creation

As stated in previous post the art for the first assignment would be added when completed.

The square version sucked so bad that I removed it.

These kind of suck, but do not have the time to do them again

Character and Creature Design Week 1

First week of class is always hectic, especially after being off for about 3 weeks.
First night in Character and Creature Creation was pretty interesting, we were shown how to set up an create a blog as our instructor wants us to have a blog as part of the class. Then we were asked to draw 10 shapes in a piece of paper then told to turn each shape into some type of car. These were quick sketches and while not the best looking car sketches it gets you mind thinking and working on how to make each shape work. For home work we were given the assignment of creating something and fitting it into three shapes Circle, Square and Triangle. We also have to colorize each on with the Circle being in blue shades, Square in yellow shades and the Triangle being in shades of red. We had a bit of time to work on ideas in class and I worked on about four different concepts but I did not come up with anything that I felt good about so have more work to do on this. Once I have a concept I feel good about I will post the sketches and the finished works here.
